I made one. Use it.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a bare-bones plugin that&#8217;s best utilized with WP-CLI to convert all PNG and JPG images on your WordPress site. I made it out of necessity as I was migrating a 15 year old WordPress install and the image library was around 3GB and the migration plugin for the new host capped migrations at 2GB.<\/p>\n<p>Per the README.md:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A lightweight, zero-bloat WordPress plugin and WP-CLI utility designed to convert massive media libraries from legacy JPEG and PNG formats to modern WebP while safely synchronizing database references, metadata, and reclaiming disk space.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Here&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/ma.rcbla.se\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/lean-webp-converter.zip\">the plugin<\/a>.
